Horror

While our country, the beautiful United States of America, is the singular most blessed nation in the world, it holds a secret, a horror or nightmare that is a reality for some young girls. It is human trafficking, or sex trafficking, also known as modern-day slavery. This nightmare scenario has become all too real for countless girls throughout the nation, playing out like a real-life horror film that seemingly will never end.

The Reality

In many human trafficking cases, the victims are coerced into leaving their homes on their own, thinking they are leaving for a better way of life. What awaits them, though, is a nightmare that they can’t escape. These predators lure the girls in and then use their time and time again as a commodity. Selling them to the highest bidder, over and over again. Some girls are even tattooed or barcoded as they are seen no longer as humans but as a commodity, one that is immensely more profitable than drugs. After all, drugs can only be sold once, and then they are consumed and cannot be resold. Girls can be used again and again, sold. Throughout this time, these girls are tortured, beaten, bullied, and treated worse than animals. They are forced to live in deplorable conditions, sharing unclean and crowded living spaces with many others.

Why Won’t They Just Leave?

While some girls are locked up or prevented from leaving, others are so beaten down by their captures that they don’t leave even when they have the opportunity. It is because these predators have convinced these girls that they are nothing, worthless and without value, and that no one would believe them, even if they asked for help. Of course, this isn’t true, but it’s all part of the process involved in keeping human beings captive. Many victims are even impregnated, which the predators use to further inflict pain on them by taking their babies and more. It is a horrible, horrific existence that is almost unbelievable when you hear it explained.

What Can Be Done

Thankfully, Saved in America is working to track down and find these missing girls and get them out of these nightmare scenarios. After their rescue, which is often performed by law enforcement, SIA follows up by finding them safe housing and the counseling they need to heal from this traumatic situation.
