A Hero’s Legacy

Saved In America mourns the loss of Toshiro "Tosh" Carrington, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL, founding volunteer, and relentless warrior for justice, who passed away on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Tosh leaves behind his wife, Erica, and an indelible mark on our organization, our country, and the world.

The Life of a Legend

Toshiro Carrington was a force of nature. Over 27 years with the U.S. Naval Special Warfare SEAL Teams—Five, One, and Special Activities One—he led high-risk missions, trained elite operators, and became one of the Navy’s top snipers. In 2004, a training accident cost him his left hand, but Tosh turned adversity into strength. Just three months later, he returned to active duty—the only SEAL ever permitted to do so after such an injury.

Retiring in 2015, Tosh brought his expertise to SIA from day one in 2014. As Special Operations Chief, he led covert missions in San Diego, helping rescue 58 missing and exploited children—every case a success. His leadership shaped SIA into the force it is today.

Beyond SIA, Tosh founded Strategic Operations Skills Training LLC, taught tactics to military and civilians alike, and inspired innovations like his custom hook through Cal Poly’s QL+ Lab. A disabled veteran with a hero’s heart, Tosh never stopped serving.

His Impact Lives On

  • Nearly 300 children saved from trafficking: Tosh’s tactical brilliance ensured SIA’s perfect record in saving children from trafficking and exploitation.

  • Leadership: He mentored our team, bringing SEAL discipline and precision to every mission.

  • Inspiration: From his hook-hand design to his training programs, Tosh showed the world what resilience looks like.

  • Service: 27 years of elite miliary service, 11 years with SIA, and a lifetime of protecting others.
