Stop Trafficking
The Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Island is part of an international women’s organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the globe. Presently, there are almost 95,000 Soroptimists members, representing 120 countries and territories.
The Soroptimist Group is Out to Stop Human Trafficking
The Soroptimist Club’s motto is investing in dreams, and part of fulfilling that goal is raising awareness for human trafficking and bringing it to a halt in America. One fundraiser the group organized was a walkathon that encompassed 30 miles in 30 days. All the resources earned through their fundraising efforts were then used to support one or more trafficking victims through the Live Your Dream Education and Training Award. There was more than $11,000 raised as a result of the walkathon. All this money was then put towards helping victims of human trafficking crimes through the award the group gives out as part of their Live Your Dream outreach.
Human Trafficking Demands a Team-Focused Approach
Our own organization, Saved In America, is of course committed to finding missing and runaway children who have been lured away from their homes via the human trafficking industry. However, other groups, like the Soroptimist's Club, are playing key roles in helping victims rehabilitate as well as helping to raise awareness of the problem. It takes a team-focused approach to address the scope of the human trafficking industry. No club or group can alone meet the challenges associated with fighting back against such evil. It is a massive issue that demands a multifaceted approach to adequately address.
Human Trafficking is a Big Issue
Although many people might assume that human trafficking is only a problem that impacts underdeveloped countries where human life isn’t considered as valuable, in reality, human trafficking is a huge issue in America. More and more girls especially are falling prey to this horrific crime that slowly pulls them away from their support systems into the dangers of the industry. It is our hope at Saved In America that the efforts from groups like the Soroptimist will continue to educate the public about the evils that exist and help more and more people recognize the subtle signs of trouble within their own loved ones and friends to stop the further growth of this industry. #ChildSavedNotSold
