Good Guys Team Up

After a successful career in the United States Navy and serving as a police officer, founder of our organization—Saved In America— Joseph Travers went to Bible College. Upon conclusion of Bible College, licensed private investigator Travers found himself looking for a mission, a way to give back. How could he begin to utilize his immense professional training in a way that would make a real difference? Enter, the human trafficking epidemic, the inspiration for the organization.

The Beginning of Saved In America: The Inspiration

Joseph Travers was touched by the overwhelming need in the country to combat human trafficking after he heard the horrific story of Brittanee Drexel of New York. This young, 17-year-old girl was abducted on a spring break trip in South Carolina. Her captures ended up killing her and dumping her body into an alligator swamp. This tragedy was the story that begin the draw into the human trafficking industry for professional Joseph Travers. Brittanee’s story represents the scope of the problem and points out how even an innocent, otherwise normal girl can fall victim to the evil of this industry.  Travers began investigating the problem and learned that more than 300,000 kids are considered missing or runaways in any given year. Of that number, one in every seven likely falling victim to the sex trafficking industry thanks to the evil triad that exists in the United States.

What is the Evil Triad?

According to Joseph Travers, and backed up by statistics, the evil triad currently operates in the United States. The three parts that make up the triad are the prison gangs, street gangs and the cartels. While cartels used to only traffic drugs through the borders and into cities within the United States they were now teaming up with gangs and specializing in trafficking humans. You can only sell a drug once, and it’s consumed and gone and needs to be reproduced. A person, on the other hand, can be sold over and over and over, which is what is supporting this enormous insurgence of human trafficking.

The Good Guys Teamed Up

While the bad guys have teamed up on the wrong side of the issue, there exists a team of good guys as well. Joseph Travers proudly teamed up with former special operators, law enforcement and Navy SEALs, who are highly skilled in surveillance and reconnaissance work among other rescue strategies to further expand the scope and reach of Saved In America. Their goal is to find the child before the bad guys do. #ChildSavedNotSold
