The San Diego DA’s office estimates there are 2,500 runaway minors at any time in the County.

2,500

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that within 48 hours of hitting the streets, one-third of these children are lured or recruited into the underground world of prostitution and pornography.

48 Hours

100% of the San Diego County schools studied, found that trafficking recruitment was occurring in their schools.

100%

Talking Points:

  • Runaway and missing children are highly at-risk of being trafficked as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that one in seven runaways are likely victims of sex trafficking.

  • Saved In America (www.savedinamerica.org) headquartered in San Diego, has assisted parents and law enforcement in the recovery of more than 270 children nationwide from traffickers since 2014. Saved In America also provides assistance to high risk juvenile shelters to protect children from further exploitation by pimps and predators.

  • The organization works tirelessly to locate missing and runaway children through its volunteer network of current and former law enforcement officers, special operators, and Navy SEALs who become licensed and insured private investigators to combat human trafficking.  SIA has more than 100 reserves across the nation.

  • SIA gathers intelligence and evidence, through online and social media platforms, to locate and identify missing children and trafficked victims, violent pedophiles (pimps), and trafficking locations. The Case Manager reports all information to local and/or federal law enforcement officers.

  • For victims of sexual exploitation, Saved In America assists in procuring legal representation, safe housing, and rehabilitative therapy.

  • The Saved In America model consists of three pillars; 1. We never charge parents/ guardians to find their children. 2. We do this voluntarily. 3. We only use former Special Operators and retired/ current Police Detectives who become Licensed and Insured Private Investigators.

  • Mobile Unit – the mobile command center was donated by the San Diego County Supervisors to help SIA complete intelligence and multiple operations in locating missing/trafficked children and pimps.

  • Rehabilitation House – SIA needs a transitional emergency “safe home” for children to stay for an average of 14 days in which SIA can work with affiliate partners to assess the child’s current condition, complete research for the best long term rehabilitation center, and work with attorneys to prosecute the perpetrator.
