Homeland Magazine, a San Diego publication by Veterans for Veterans, did a piece on Saved in America, that covered the founding of our organization as well as the impetus that led to its launch. Our founder Joseph Travers explains how he was reading an article entitled “Retired Terror Hunters Hope to End Child Sex Slavery” This piece explained how many veterans were using their skills to find missing kids in foreign countries. It dawned on Travers that as of that time, there wasn’t an equivalent to that kind of service in existence within America’s borders. That, as well as an increase in human trafficking numbers within the nation overall, led Travers to join with other former military and law enforcement professionals to create an American version of the rescue group he read about. 

The Three Pillars of Saved in America

SIA is proudly founded on three main pillars that encompass everything the group does, making up its foundation. First of all, the services they offer families are free. No family is ever charged for the help they get from Saved in America. Secondly, the team itself refuses pay from anyone, even if they aren’t the client’s family. Instead, they give their talents and expertise free of charge. Thirdly, only former law enforcement and military professionals are allowed to become volunteers for SIA. In addition, all volunteers hold current private investigator licenses. The reason behind these group pillars is to ensure that all the work that is done by SIA is accomplished skillfully and without an ulterior motive. The group does raise funds to pay for equipment and travel expenses associated with rescues, but no volunteer ever pockets any of this revenue, it all goes to keep the organization running. 

Travers Thanks Terror Hunters

Joseph Travers is thankful that he came across the article mentioned above about the Terror Hunters as it helped inspire the creation of Saved in America on the home front. Travers has also published a book called Investigation of Missing & Exploited Children: The Gateway to Child Sex Trafficking. This book is a helpful resource to parents, law enforcement, and childcare professionals of all kinds when it comes to understanding the way human trafficking works in modern times and how easily even seemingly “normal” kids can become victimized.
