Gift of Life

In this episode of the Mr. Cup of Joe Show, where good news is proclaimed, the Bibles for Marines ministry was looked at closer along with what the volunteers are doing to minister to the United States Marines. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it.” This proclamation by God in His word is the basis for the Bibles for Marines ministry. This ministry gives specialized Bibles to Marines allowing some of them to read the Word of God for themselves for the first time in their lives.

Saved in America’s Involvement

While Saved in America as an organization isn’t necessarily involved in this ministry, the founder of our organization, Joseph Travers, and friends are heavily involved in handing out the Word of God to Marines as a way to give them the gift of life. Traver’s, along with Blues Musician Darrell Mansfield, who entertains the troops as part of this ministry, and many others worked to create this mission of compassion to give back to those who give so much. Those involved saw a need to give back to the soldiers as they stood in line to get their hair cut. They figured, why not feed and entertain these men and women while they are in the middle of their training? They then decided to cook them hamburgers and entertain them with songs while they eat. Of course, all this is small compared to the gift of God’s Word that they are also given as part of this ministry. Darrell Mansfield even gives them a CD of Blue’s inspired Christian music to give them the message of God in a slightly different way than they have likely heard before.

Why Giving The Word is Wise

The Bible is God’s Word and its message will never return void, as laid out in the passage listed above. Therefore, who better than the soldiers— who are out there fighting for our freedoms to do many things, the least of these is worship freely,—to give copies of the word of God so they can learn more about the One who gave them life and Who they should be serving even more so than the United States Marines.
