Shoutout SoCal

A recent Shoutout SoCal article spotlighted one of our own, Kirby Horrell whose life is the local story you will want to learn about. Horrell, who is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL, is now a Hot Rod car builder, an analyst at the Navy, and one of the valuable volunteers who give of their time and expertise to find missing children through Saved in America.

His Work as a Mentor

In addition to his commendable military career and his present work with Saved in America, Kirby also serves as a mentor, paying it forward and giving back. Therefore, for the past 40 years, he has mentored young people as well as SEAL team members, helping them to become the best version of themselves. Kirby explains that has been a lifelong part of the SEAL Community, he still lives by the SEAL ethos. The phrase that best describes this lifestyle is “The only easy day was yesterday.”

The Important Women in His Life

Kirby went on to explain that he would not be where he is today without the presence of some very important women in his life. First off, his mother was a single mom who successfully raised six children in a bad part of St. Louis. He also makes note of the impact his wife of over 36 years has also had in keeping him on the right path.

Nothing is Impossible

Throughout Kirby’s career, he has lived out the mantra that nothing is impossible if you want to accomplish it badly enough. He first applied this viewpoint to his service in the military where he thrived and succeeded. Now, in his retirement, he still believes this is true and seeks to help Saved in America find missing and exploited children, rescuing them from human trafficking, which is a booming industry throughout America.

Saved in America

With volunteers like Kirby Horrell, how could Saved in America not succeed in finding missing children? Thankfully, he exemplifies the kind of highly qualified professional who works regularly with Saved in America to track down and find these kids before they can become victimized by human trafficking. His experience both in the military and post-military has made him a valuable part of the team at Saved in America.
