A Mom's Story

Every parent's worst nightmare is to realize their child is missing and have no idea where they might have gone if they are hurt or even alive. This is the real-life nightmarish reality that mom Maureen faced after realizing her beloved 16-year-old daughter was missing after leaving her home to ride a bike to her friend's house. The girl never arrived at her friend’s house and the question of what might have happened sunk in full force for her parents.

Saved In America Stepped Into the Case

In the immediate aftermath of this case, only the local police were involved. However, after about a month of no results, Maureen and another mother of a missing girl, contacted the professionals at Saved In America to get them involved in both cases, trying to find the girls together, as it was believed that they might be together. After some initial investigation, it was assumed the girls had run away and were in danger of being incorporated into a human trafficking ring.

There Were no Signs, It Can Happen to Anyone

Many parents assume that only kids from troubled homes or with a checkered past will end up as victims of a human trafficking ring, but this isn’t the case. In reality, it can happen to any child, from any sort of home, and from any type of family. Maureen can attest to this as her beloved daughter came from an affluent family, in a good neighborhood. She had friends and generally behaved well, giving her parents no cause for concern or any reason to suspect that something was amiss.

How Saved In America Found The Girls

Thankfully, once Saved In America started working on the case, they were able to ascertain leads on where the girls were after social media investigations and other means of investigative efforts. After tracking down the girls to a gang house, they were able to get the police to come to make the extraction and return the girls to the safety of their parents, right in time as they were about to face even more horrors if they had not been rescued. Maureen says her daughter, now 19, still faces daily challenges related to the trauma she endured when captive. According to her mom, she will always be a bit different after this experience but is a survivor.  #ChildSavedNotSold
