Human Trafficking

While unimaginable, the immense evils of the human trafficking industry exist right in front of us daily, even in the wonderful land we call home, the United States of America. Sex trafficking is the second-largest black market industry in the land, taking a backseat only to drug trafficking. It is now time for us to address this evil lurking in plain sight and stop ignoring the devastation this vile epidemic is causing.

The Evil Industry

There are an estimated 4.8 people worldwide victimized by sex trafficking. Unfortunately, this horrific statistic includes human trafficking numbers from every American state. In fact, in the city of San Diego alone, sex trafficking generates an estimated $810 million in revenue a year. San Diego is also the second-largest sex trafficking corridor in the land. Nationwide, there are between 100,000 and 300,000 children who are victimized by the industry every year.

Predators Are Getting Rich off Victimizing Children

Pimps and other predators know what they have with regard to a human, renewable product. Unlike drugs that can only be bought and sold once for a profit, a human being can be bought, sold, and then sold again and again. In fact, a pimp will make on average $100,000 a year trafficking just one child. Consequently, these predators know how to access their source product and have astoundingly placed recruiters in schools across the nation, and on every school campus in San Diego County to feed their evil empire.

The Victims Are Often Already Victimized

Unfortunately, as in the wild, predators tend to go for the most vulnerable prey. Many children who fall into the sex trafficking industry are already facing hardships of many kinds from homelessness to abuse in their homes and more. In general, they face family instability and mental or emotional health issues that make them more vulnerable to the grooming practices perpetuated by predators.

Saved in America is Here to Help

Thankfully, our organization, Saved in America, understands the scope of the problem as it exists today and has successfully overseen the rescue of 232 girls nationwide since our first rescue in 2014. We will remain on the job addressing this heinous crime as long as some seek to do evil against children.
