Finding Missing Girl

Maureen and David, parents to a then 16-year-old daughter, know what it’s like to live out a nightmare in real life, a story that is outlined by Five Strengths Living. Their beloved daughter, the light of their life, disappeared while riding her bike to a trusted friend’s house one afternoon. Her phone, which she had not used to contact her anxious parents, was subsequently shut off by that evening. Not only was the daughter missing but so was the friend with whom she had been aiming to visit. The terrified parents spent hours reaching out to anyone and everyone who might know where their daughter was including family, friends, neighbors, and of course police. They even went as far as to spend their money to hire a private investigator. All this, though, with nothing to show for it and still not one feasible clue as to the whereabouts of their daughters.

The Police Were Treating The Girl as a Runway and Weren’t Going to Do Much

Unfortunately, in many of these cases which Saved in America steps into, police consider these girls as runaways who simply don’t want to be found. Consequently, they don’t allocate needed resources or man-hours to finding them. Maureen explained the situation they were facing, “We knew the police were treating her like a runway, and they just weren’t doing much. We were trying to do all we could ourselves, but it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

Enter Saved in America

Finally, after about three weeks of trying to find the girls on their own and spending a small fortune on private investigators to do the same job, the family contacted the Saved in America organization. Less than a week after the family reached out and got Saved in America involved, Maureen and David’s daughter were successfully found and rescued in Compton, California. The professionals at Saved in America made up of retired police officers and military vets, determined the girl had been sold into sex trafficking. Thankfully, this family was not charged a dime for the services of Saved in America. The founder of the organization, Joseph Travers, is quick to point out that they would not be able to make these sorts of rescues if they didn’t have funding coming in from supporters. Maureen and David know firsthand the value of these services and also encourage everyone who can give, so other girls like their daughter can be rescued from human trafficking.
