Know the Rules

Executive Direction and Private Investigation Manager of Saved in America Joshua Travers was a featured guest on the Know the Rules of the Game Podcast hosted by Desiree Patno. Joshua proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2007 to 2015 and served in Iraq in 2009 before beginning his role as a case manager for our own Saved in America organization. He also proudly serves on the board of the National Association for Missing and Exploited Children.

Hiding in Plain Sight

During the podcast, the story was told of a young girl who was rescued from a commercial airline from the sex trafficking ring after cleverly alerting an intuitive stewardess to her problem. This is just one example of how many times the victims of human trafficking can be hiding in plain sight. In fact, according to estimations, some 50,000 victims are taken on commercial flights to different locations by abductors or predators with no one on the plane being any the wiser. That’s to say nothing of the thousands of kids who disappear in other ways.

The Books Are Designed to Help Educate The Masses

Another topic that was addressed on the podcast was the fact that the public is woefully unaware of what is going on within the thriving human trafficking industry. Thankfully, Joshua Travers and his father, also a founder of Saved in America, have authored a few books designed to help in this department. There are many available for purchase today, and they include the “Introduction to Private Investigation: Essential Knowledge and Procedures for Private Investigators,” which primarily looks at the role private investigators play in various cases, as well as the topical book “Investigation of Missing and Exploited Children: The Gateway of Child and Sex Trafficking,” which is immensely helpful for those who want to know more about the industry as it exists today on American soil.

How Saved in America Got its Start

Saved in America was created in 2014 as a way to fight back against the epidemic rise in human trafficking cases plaguing America. The founders of our organization heard about one particularly gruesome case where a young girl was abducted into the industry and ended up suffering a horrific death. After learning about this case and how another organization was fighting human trafficking abroad, the Saved in America team felt it was important to implement something similar within America’s borders. The podcast goes into additional detail and is worth a watch to learn even more.
