Founder of Saved In America, founder Joseph Travers, comes from a uniquely qualified background, which helped orchestrate his most important calling of all, rescuing missing and runaway children. Joseph Travers has nearly 40 years of experience within the criminal justice system thanks to the time he served as a police officer. He also served as both a police and fire commissioner for the City of Oceanside. However, even with the immense impact he was able to have on his community, current private investigator Travers found his ultimate calling when he happened to hear about a missing teen girl in a newspaper article. 

One Missing Girl Prompted an Entire Organization

After having an illustrious and successful career in the criminal justice system, Travers wanted to continue to make an impact even after he stopped serving as an active duty police officer. This led him to learn more about a particular missing teen girl. Once he delved into the topic and discovered the prevalence of the problem that existed, mainly that thousands upon thousands of kids were being sold into human trafficking, he decided to use his training and background to further the cause of stopping this horrific practice. 

The Beginning of a Life Impacting Organization

After Travers learned how prevalent the problem of human trafficking was even in a country as seemingly wonderful as the United States of America, he knew he had to take action. His first step was partnering with other former police officers and military specialists, and Navy SEALs who were expertly trained at reconnaissance work, which would give the organization the knowledge base they needed to succeed. In 2014, this group of professionally trained volunteers came together to form Saved In America and then executed their first successful rescue mission.  Since that time, more than 250 children have been successfully found and returned to their guardians and parents.

Travers resides in Valley Center and his son, Joshua, who is currently serving as a police officer is a case manager for Saved In America. Travers believes that Saved In America is a ministry calling, something he needed to do to help the overworked and overextended police departments to be able to assist in the recovery of children.
