Digital Threats

An appearance on the Mark Larson Show, entitled “If It Wasn't This, It Would be Something Else”, featured our own founder Joseph Travers as well as Board Member Stephanie Myers explaining the increased dangers associated with the Coronavirus lock-downs. According to the FBI, computer crimes in general are on the rise, especially those aimed at victimizing children. This combined with the increased online activity of children necessitated by the shutdowns of schools has created a perfect opportunity for predators to find their prey.

Sex Trafficking Numbers

Where we are located in San Diego, we are second in the nation in sex trafficking numbers, a category you most certainly don’t want to lead the nation in. However, this is a worldwide problem, as some 40 million people globally are enslaved in sex trafficking. More specifically as it relates to online activity, one in every 5 kids have been sexually solicited online and some 20% of high schools said they have met someone in person who they first met online.

Saved In America Fighting Hard to Protect Kids From Online Predators

Our organization, Saved In America is made up of professional volunteers who have worked in law enforcement and have been highly regarded military specialists. Our goal is to use our professional skills in a volunteer capacity to assist overworked and overwhelmed law enforcement professionals to combat the booming industry of sex trafficking. Kids online are especially vulnerable, so parents must also be extra diligent to keep up with their kids’ online activities and be aware of any signs of grooming. Speaking of which…

Grooming Moves Kids Away From Protection

The grooming process is the method utilized by many sexual predators, pimps and gangs to slowly elicit the complete trust and loyalty of kids and/or their victims. They will slowly move kids away from their family and friends emotionally and physically. In other words, the people who have their best interests and safety at heart will become less and less influential in their lives as these predators move in and gain their allegiance. Eventually, this will lead to kids leaving their homes and ending up on the streets and becoming a victim of human trafficking. Suffice it to say that shutdowns and the increase of online activity that has been a result, are creating a horrible situation where the most vulnerable among us are placed in a dangerous environment where they can easily become victims of human trafficking crimes. #ChildSavedNotSold
