Inspiration

Christen grew up "country."  Though she lived in the town of Merced in her childhood years, she spent many weekends, summers, and vacations out at her grandparents' dairy or on her best friend's family ranch.  She could be found out in the pasture, or cleaning the barn, or taking care of her livestock she raised for Future Farmers of America, (FFA), and sometimes, when we didn't have enough help, you could find her on a tractor.  She considers herself a farmer at heart.  As an adult she enjoys teaching her two kids the importance of planning and preparing for the crops to come.  Every year she grows a garden and carries on the tradition of putting in hard work to reap the fruits of her labor.   She loves the family time spent outdoors.  She takes her kids hiking, camping, and outdoors whenever possible... and the kids love it!!!

Work Ethic

Christen spent many years in the service industry.  She realized just how much she loves serving and caring to the needs of those around her.  When the opportunity for her to make a career shift in to financial services, it became clear she would be able to serve her community better once she got trained, licensed, and skilled at teaching families and individuals how to grow their money, how to properly protect their money, and how to be financially prepared.  This changed everything for Christen as she now had a career she was proud of, something she could call her own, and the knowledge to transform her entire financial future by using those skills and knowledge she is now equipped with.

Mindset

To Christen, the farmer mentality of saving, planning, preparing, putting in hard work, and reap a bounty carries over to her professional life.

Philanthropy

But still, Christen looked at her life and could see that there was something missing.  One day she drew out a diagram to assess the areas in her life she was lacking.  Suddenly it stood out clear as day, I wasn't giving back to my community philanthropically.  She began to pray that God would present her with an opportunity to give back in a big way.  So when she got the call about Saved In America and their need for more volunteers and more donations to keep the program running, she knew this was the answer to her prayers.  She agreed to help spread awareness about this organization and also volunteers her time to support the founder, Joseph Travers, and his incredible team.  Her goal is to help raise 10 million dollars in one years' time.
