Emmeline's Case
There are countless names behind every human trafficking statistic. One that was very important to Saved in America as well as her family is Emmeline or Emmy. This case began when Emmy went missing from her home and the police were unable to find any leads or offer any hope to her family. Emmy’s parents were sure that she had become a victim of a human trafficking ring, so after a few weeks of searching on their own, for their beloved daughter, they reached out to SIA for help. This nightmarish situation is all too common throughout the United States as countless parents face the horror of not knowing what has happened to their children and wondering if they will ever see them again.
The Dangers for Missing Kids
Studies have found that missing kids like Emmy are immensely vulnerable to human trafficking. One in every seven missing kids will be recruited or taken into the human trafficking industry. Often, this recruitment is done quickly, within 48 hours of a kid running away. Therefore, it is important when a child goes missing, to find the child as quickly as possible before the predators have a chance to get them in their clutches. Saved in America has been working since 2014 to help find missing kids just like Emmy whose parents are worried about their missing children and are fearful they will be victimized by human trafficking rings. Emmy was thankfully found after a few weeks of searching due in large part to the efforts of Saved in America and the volunteers who worked tirelessly on her case.
Saved in America
Thankfully, SIA works in conjunction with local law enforcement and other organizations to find missing children. Their team of professional volunteers are all licensed private investigators who have experience in either military or law enforcement professions. They all volunteer their time to SIA and the group overall does not charge any family even one dime for their services. After a child is rescued, Saved in America then shifts to become a resource for families. They help them get the legal aid they need to prosecute the predators, as well as help them get the kids the help they need to recover from their situation through counseling services and safe homes.
