America Trends I

While many think that slavery is a horror that ended decades ago, today, even within the blessed country of the United States, human trafficking, known as modern-day slavery, is booming and only growing stronger by the minute. America Trends, host Aimee Fuller, interviewed Joseph Travers about the horrible trend of human trafficking throughout the country. This part one interview of two allows Travers to share more about human trafficking, Saved in America, the methods they use, the organizations they work with, and more.

No More Profitable Commodity

This interview is worth being watched in its entirety as it explains some behind-the-scenes information not only about human trafficking but also the way that immigration is making an impact on this crime. Travers explains the important role Homeland Security and ICE play in preventing drug cartels and gang members from bringing in kids and then trafficking them. These professionals go over and aboard their call of duty to protect kids, not to separate them from their families. The triad of evil, made up of street gangs, prison gangs, and drug cartels is now profiting off the commodity of human children, selling them to the highest bidder.

Slavery Very Much Alive and Well

Today’s slave industry takes place on social media and involves intricate grooming practices that victimize children through abuse to the point that they are scared to speak up, and are so afraid of their captures that they are convinced they will never be rescued and perhaps don’t even deserve to be rescued. This warped way of thinking allows the captures to maintain control of their victims, even when from the outside it might look like they are “choosing” to stay. Instead, they are simply so scared to leave or so scared to speak up that they remain a victim until they are rescued.

Saved in America

Thankfully, Saved in America and other private groups along with government-sponsored efforts are all working towards fighting back against the immense growth of this horrific crime. Awareness is key which is why interviews like this one by America Trends are so important as they get the word out, shining a light in the darkness so that more people are educated on what is happening every day to kids all over America.
