JLSD Spotlight

Since 2017, the Junior League of San Diego or JLSD community has proudly partnered with our own Saved in America organization. This partnership was formed as a way to promote awareness by educating the community as well as understanding the way the industry has grown and continues to be a threat to virtually all children, nationwide. Another aspect of the partnership between these two organizations includes JLSD volunteering to help Saved in America in their fundraising endeavors, and SIA working with the JLSD-facilitated Commercial Sexually Exploited Children Task Force.

When Good People do Nothing, Evil Wins

The rise of human trafficking all over the world as well as here at home in America has brought an uprising of evil into our blessed nation. Gangs have realized that they can make more money selling humans than they can sell drugs or weapons, so they have switched tactics and made children their commodity.  Gangs include street gangs, prison gangs, and drug cartels that have become forces in the dark criminal underbelly, an evil triad. Therefore, as evil continues to grow, the need for good people to step up and intervene has only grown more prevalent. After all,  when good people do nothing, evil wins. Therefore, the actions of the JLSD as well as organizations like our own at Saved in America are vital to defeating this growing darkness.

How it Happens

Human trafficking does not only impact kids from poor nations. It doesn’t discriminate among races or social standing. It can impact any family at any time. Kids are often coerced to leave their homes by predators who are highly skilled at grooming tactics. They convince the kids to leave and come with them for a better way of life. Of course, once the kids leave the safety of their community and personal homes, they are then imprisoned in a hellish world that never seems to end where they are abused, traumatized, and used over and over again, making their captures hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tracking down a child in such a ring is difficult and time-consuming and, with the growth of the industry, it’s often more than local law enforcement can do. That is why organizations like ours and JLSD are so important, as they stand in the gap against these evils to protect and defend victims.
