Joined Forces
When it comes to work here on the homefront, often the military and police departments operate separately. However, in the case of Saved in America, a unique collaboration has formed between both retired police officers or law enforcement specialists and those who served in the military, such as former Navy SEALS and the like, which is outlined in this People article. This group has joined forces to fight back together against an evil that not only is growing in America but is expanding globally with no signs of slowing down, that being human trafficking.
It’s About Saving Runaways Before It’s Too Late
When it comes to human trafficking, those in the know understand that the situation is rarely one where a child is snatched off the street. In other words, it’s unlikely to be considered a kidnapping. Instead, most cases involve kids who run away from home or voluntarily leave with someone. This means the police look at it differently. They cannot allocate the resources and the funds needed to find a child who seemingly chose to run away of their own volition. Of course, the volunteers of Saved in America realize the immense scheme that surrounds these events the way the predators groom kids to leave, and sometimes how kids are just picked up and then sold into the sex trade. Therefore, they have devoted their time to standing in the gap for these kids.
SIA Gets Results
In the case outlined in this People article, parents called in SIA’s help after their daughter and her friend took a ride from a stranger who then took them to Los Angeles seemingly against their will. They were then sold into sex slavery. Law enforcement was unable to make much headway on the case. However, once SIA was called in, it was less than a week before they found the girl and were able to create a rescue plan and get her back to her parents. Law enforcement, for the most part, is very grateful for the added help in these time-consuming cases where they lack the manpower and resources needed to fight back adequately. Most citizens are simply unaware of the scope of human trafficking within America and how these rings victimize kids from all walks of life, making SIA that much more important.
