Neveah's Recovery
Nevada had the second-highest rate of human trafficking nationwide as of 2020. It was this area and Las Vegas in particular that young Nevaeh was allowed to go to at just 15 years of age, told by her mother to roam the streets. This story tells what happened to orchestrate Neveah’s Recovery.
Someone Cared
Although Neveah’s mom didn't care about her well-being, Neveah did have someone fighting for her. Her grandmother willingly spent money flying up to the area nearly every weekend to try and find her while maintaining her job. Thankfully, she got in touch with Saved in America who came alongside her and helped her when she did make contact with Nevaeh. Her contact at SIA worked with her through the logistics of getting Nevaeh the help she needed.
How Saved in America Helped
SIA ensured that she had a hotel room to stay in Reno that would allow her to not move Neveah across state lines. SIA even worked to get Nevaeah the help she needed to recover. Thankfully, when she was found, she wasn’t on drugs. She was just dirty and scared and had been sleeping in the tunnels of the Vegas strip. At any given time, it is believed that around 1,000 people are living under the Las Vegas strip. These tunnels amazingly stretch for around 200 miles providing an abundance of hiding opportunities for those who don’t want to be found.
Nevaeh is Recovering
Nevaeh was pregnant when she was found. She is now recovering and went through a pregnancy center that helped her continue her recovery even while she was pregnant. Nevaeh’s dream is to go back to school and become a hair and nail tech, alongside being a mom to a beautiful little girl. She now resides with her grandmother where she is pursuing her dreams and working even more to better herself. Nevaeh’s grandmother understands that hardly anyone wants to be on the streets and that people end up there often because they feel they have nowhere else to go. Nevaeh didn’t realize she had a loving grandmother who wanted to help her originally as she was told she was deceased. Thankfully, this family is now moving towards a healthier place with Nevaeh getting the help and support she needs from someone who loves her unconditionally.
