Appearing on KUSI News, Saved in America founder Joseph Travers explains the reality of human trafficking in San Diego County, and the need for continued fundraising efforts to keep SIA working against these evils. The group of professional volunteers who make up the specialty team of Saved in America do not charge a dime for their many years of experience, which includes both military and law enforcement special training. However, even with their willingness to give their time and expertise, each rescue of a human trafficking victim can cost thousands of dollars a piece.

What The Cost Covers

While labor is never part of the expense, in many cases, team members must travel to other states to research cases or even to track down the victim. This means that plane tickets, hotel rooms, and equipment costs all have to be covered in each case. Therefore, fundraising efforts are necessary as these events keep the team supplied with what they need to track down and find every missing child they are tasked with locating.

Obviously, the team of professionals is happy to give freely of their time to SIA, but that doesn’t mean the group has no expenses. As mentioned above, rescuing girls from human trafficking is a costly endeavor but one very much worth doing. Thankfully, fundraising dinners give donors an opportunity to give resources to Saved in America, ensuring that they never have to turn a family in need away. Donations are also always welcome on the website, meaning that anyone, even if they are too far away to attend a fundraising event, can have a hand in the continuance of this worthy organization. 

Awareness and Understanding

In addition to fundraising, these events are also an opportunity to promote awareness of the problem of human trafficking in virtually every community across the nation. Statistics estimate that there are 100,000 kids who are being victimized by the industry yearly and these numbers continue to grow. Thankfully, Saved in America also has some impressive numbers with a 100% success rate. This means that in all the cases they have attempted to solve, they have been able to find the missing child, often before they are even victimized by a trafficking ring. SIA then follows up with help for the child to recover for their ordeal and legal advice as well, which is another service that needs and deserves funding.
