JLSD

The Junior League of San Diego (JLSD) is a network of empowered female civic leaders. They work within the community to address and solve a variety of problems including fighting back against human trafficking. As part of an international network of women, JLSD has made a significant impact on women’s issues all over the globe. Thankfully, this impactful organization partnered with Saved in America in 2017.

Partnership Perks

JLSD volunteers assisted at Saved in America’s fundraising event in November, aiding the event immensely. They also facilitated the Commercial Sexually Exploited Children Task Force in which Saved in America participates. The idea is to bring about many types of people, all sorts of organizations, and together to fight against the horrors of human trafficking. This is necessary because human trafficking isn’t a one size fits all issue. It affects all races, all backgrounds, and all types of families across America. Therefore, fighting this atrocity takes an all-hands-on-deck approach.

The Evils of the Industry

Human trafficking is known as modern-day slavery. Sadly, it is just as prevalent in America as it is in other nations throughout the world. In fact, in many cases, it’s more prevalent. The foundation of wickedness is supported by an evil triad, made up of prison gangs, street gangs, and drug cartels. No longer are drug cartels and drug lords content only in peddling drugs. Now, they are in the market for human lives. After all, a person can be sold over and over for immense profit, while drugs are a one-and-down prospect.

The Picture of Human Trafficking in America

San Diego is a hotspot for the issue within America’s borders with kids of all backgrounds finding themselves swept up into the industry. Thankfully, with efforts from groups like the JLSD who partner with Saved in America to fight back against the evils of the industry, the good guys just might have a fighting chance. Saved in America works with families and law enforcement to find missing children before they become victimized by the human trafficking industry. After the rescue, they ensure that each victim is given the help they need to recover from their trauma and hopefully be free from the industry for good. They do this all free of charge.
