Mother of Victim
It is every parent’s worst nightmare to not know where their daughter is, and wonder or even know that she is in danger. This nightmare scenario was lived out in reality by sex traffic victim Hannah’s mom when Hannah ran away to Mexico. Hannah’s mom got help in the form of reaching out to Saved in America. She was desperate to find her daughter before she came to more harm than perhaps she had already experienced.
Hannah Was Rescued
Thankfully, through the efforts of Saved in America, Hannah was located and rescued in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. Hannah is just one of the hundreds of girls that Saved in America has successfully rescued from the clutches of the human trafficking industry. Many runaways end up victimized by the industry. In fact, according to stats, one in every seven runaways are likely to become victims of the industry. Some 300,000 kids are reported missing or suspected of running away yearly, and 100,000 of those will be trafficked.
Parents Need to be Educated
As Hannah’s mom could attest, parents need to be more aware of what is going on in their children’s lives, especially those of their young teenage girls. The human trafficking industry is booming, even within America’s borders. Young girls are at heightened risk as they are immensely valuable to the cartels and pimps who run the human trafficking industry. While they can only sell a drug once, they can sell a human girl over and over and over, making a human female life a hot ticket item for these monsters.
Look Out For Your Kids
As parents, we have to be proactive and check our kid’s contacts, social media involvement, and more to stay on top of this risk. Kids are not being snatched off the streets while they walk to school, instead, they are being groomed to voluntarily leave the safety and comfort of home to become a runaway. This is the danger that exists today in that the risk is very subtle and often flies under the radar of many parents. That’s why it takes a concerted effort on the parent's part to stay involved and know who their child is talking to at all times, who they are with, and what they are doing.
