Anti-Human Trafficking

Fighting against the horrors of the human trafficking industry takes many volunteers and organizations to work together in a collaborative effort. Our own Joseph Travers spoke at a Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland at their North County Anti-Human Trafficking Collaborative Meeting. The event was free to the public and coffee and pastries were provided.

Who is Joseph Travers?

For those of you who follow Saved in America closely, Joseph Travers is no stranger. He is the Executive Director of Saved in America and has assisted in the rescue of over 200 girls from the human trafficking industry. He is also the author of “Introduction to Private Investigation, Essential Knowledge and Procedures for Private Investigator.”

His professional history includes his service in the US Navy as well as his service in Law Enforcement, most specifically when he worked in Criminal Investigations and Police Training and Supervision. He has also been a California State Private Licensed Investigator since 1984. His investigative work has been chronicled by various cable networks, People Magazine, and television stations, and even spotlighted on the TV movie and series Renegade. Travers is also a Pastor of the National Christian Information Center and has been a Police Commissioner for the City of Oceanside, California since 2008.

More About Soroptimist of Vista

Of course, Travers was glad to lend his expertise and share more about human trafficking during this meeting to further the efforts of Saved in America and other organizations like the Soroptimist of Vista and North Country Inland. This group was founded in 1953 and is made up of professional businesswomen who seek to make a difference in their community, by offering scholarships and grants to local charities and by raising awareness about various issues affecting women and girls, the most pressing of which are increasing awareness of domestic violence and human trafficking.

More on the Collaborative Efforts

This group, along with others, is part of the North County Anti-Human Trafficking Collaborative. This is a diverse group of community organizations and individuals who are collectively committed to eliminating human trafficking and modern-day slavery. This is accomplished through raising awareness and advocating for policy and legislation changes to better punish and prosecute human trafficking crimes. The collaborative meets monthly to discuss these and other issues.
