Interviewing Kirby
Mr. Reagan interviewed our own Kirby Horrell on the impact Saved in America is having, standing in the gap for young girls, fighting back against human trafficking. The interview begins with Mr. Reagan sharing some general information about human trafficking and the work that Saved in America does to combat this growing issue. Modern-day slavery is the fastest growing crime in the nation and is impacting more and more lives daily. Police departments are simply unable to keep up with the demand and are unable to do the work necessary to track down and find runaways before they end up in human trafficking rings. This, of course, is where Saved in America steps in and helps fill the gap that exists right now in our country.
Saved in America Combines the Best of Both Worlds
The professional volunteers who make up Saved in America include the best and the brightest from both law enforcement and military services. Co-founder Kirby Horrell represents a military specialist as his background included service as a Navy SEAL and more. Co-founder and President Joseph Travers has a law enforcement background. They along with the other volunteers come from both of these worlds. Therefore, at the beginning of a case that starts the process of finding runaway kids, all these volunteers come together resembling a cross between a special ops mission meeting and a police briefing.
Human Trafficking and Drug Addiction Goes Hand-in-Hand
Many predators and pimps will use drugs to create a relationship of dependence between themselves and their victims. They have to ensure that a girl isn’t thinking clearly, or she might decide to try to get away or fight back too much. Instead, they groom these girls for a while, building up the trust they have in them. Then, they convince them to run away from home where they will be easier to snatch. They convince them, often through the use of the aforementioned drugs, to sell their bodies, and they are now hooked into a nightmarish existence that will take years of therapy from which to recover. This interview with Kirby goes on to explain this and more in greater detail, revealing the importance of Saved in America and why it's so vital to support rescue and recovery efforts through donations.
