Assisting Dallas Mom

Saved in America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescue and rehabilitation of children who have been victimized by human trafficking. Since its inception, the organization has successfully coordinated or affected over 200 rescues, one of which was a girl from Dallas, TX, named Monica.

Monica’s Story

Monica had a history of running away. Therefore, when she ran away again, for the third time on October 27, 2020, Monica’s mom quickly contacted the Dallas Police Department to get a case opened and begin looking for her daughter. Unfortunately, Monica’s mom was met with a less than ideal response from law enforcement offices when she was basically given the brush off and told “mam we have a lot of high-priority activity we’re trying to take care of. Unless you have an address where she may be located, there’s not much we can do. You might consider hiring a private detective.”

Saved in America Gets Involved

Of course, this answer was less than satisfactory for a mother who was desperate to find her daughter before she became the victim of a horrendous crime. She didn’t know what to do in order to track her down on her own since it became obvious that she wasn’t going to get much help from the police. She contacted our organization, Saved in America, though, and we quickly got involved, providing Monica’s mom with advice and resources to do the necessary digging to discover Monica’s current whereabouts. With the help of Saved in America’s suggestions, Monica’s mom was able to use her phone and find a probable location for her daughter. At this point, she called the Dallas Police Department and they were then able to recover Monica on November 14, 2020.

Monica is Now on Her Way to Recovery

Monica was brought home safely and through Saved in America is currently looking for placement in a rehabilitation facility. This was a struggle because many facilities were at max capacity and it was becoming difficult to find a place for Monica to recover. CEO of Saved in America stated that this is an oft-overlooked aspect of the rescue and recovery process, but it is a vital part of getting the child in a healthy place, where they hopefully won’t run away again.

Monica’s Mom Thanks Saved in America

Despite their distance away, due to their San Diego location, Monica’s mom said that Saved in America was more supportive of her and her daughter than any other organization. They encouraged her and gave her the strength she needed to rescue and then help her daughter recover.
