Corey Taylor Talks
Saved in America co-founder Joseph Travers appeared on the Corey Taylor Talks as a special guest speaking about the growing problem of human trafficking within America’s borders. Travers begins the conversation by explaining the background of Saved in America and why in 2009, he determined to create this organization as a way to counteract the evil triad of prison gangs, street gangs, and drug cartels. It was his next ministry after serving as both a pastor and law enforcement officer.
The Prevalence of Human Trafficking Within America’s Borders
Sex trafficking is far from a problem only impacting lower-income countries or those who do not value female life as much as we do here in America. In fact, even within the United States, there are an estimated 300,000 missing children at any time. The statistics show that of those missing, no less than 100,000 will be sold into human trafficking and suffer the horrendous abuse it entails.
A Relatively Recent Problem
It wasn’t until relatively recently, in 2008, that the drug cartels, street gangs, and prison gangs joined forces to destroy America’s children. This evil triad figured out that they could make a great deal of money selling humans over and over, instead of focusing only on drugs, which can only be sold once. Now they market both and the industry has boomed.
The Internet is Used in Many Cases
Many predators are gaining the confidence and trust of their victims using the internet. This has been especially true during the COVID epidemic, where kids were forced to spend more time online and away from traditional social interaction at school. This created the ideal situation for these evil predators to come in and lure these kids away from their families and friends.
Grooming Process
It would be easy for families of these kids to recognize predatory signs if they were obvious. However, instead of being straightforward, these predators slowly gain a kid's trust through the grooming process, which creates a situation where they slowly but surely pull away from their support system and begin to confide and trust in the predators, of course not recognizing them as such. Eventually, the child will run away, at which time, they can easily be grabbed and forced into human trafficking. It is this evil that Saved in America is fighting hard against.
