Counter Culture Mom
Bethany Dumbleton, Chief Operations Officer for Counter Culture Mom is a mom of two and wife to her loving husband. First and foremost, though, she is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Consequently, her mission is to live in the world but not be of the world, thus the counter culture mantra. In her interview with our own Joseph Travers, founder of Saved In America, she explores the difficult topic of sex trafficking in America.
Travers shared with her the following about the role our organization serves and the immense opportunity to minister. It is what makes Saved In America unique from other rescue organizations:
“There are a ton of stories where the odds are so far against you to find these kids. There have been other groups that have tried to duplicate what we have done, using private investigators, former FBI agents...and very few have success. I have said multiple times, it’s God that finds the girl. He tells me which turns to take.”
(At Saved In America, our team is made up of highly qualified former and current law enforcement officers, licensed private and insured investigators, Special Operators and NAVY SEALs.)
The Current Culture Isn’t Addressing The Problem
As touched on over many occasions by the Counter Culture Mom, today’s culture is anything but helpful when it comes to living a life for the Lord or protecting kids from sex crimes. During her talk with Travers, he pointed out the role that hip-hop artists and the rap industry has served in the demise of the culture, as does the influence of drug dealers, pimps and gangs.
What Can be Done?
Obviously, today’s parents want to do everything they can to protect their children from the culture’s influence on their lives. Travers says that the best step for parents to take is simply to be a parent to their children. Sounds simple enough, but the cultural norm flies in the face of that simple wisdom and makes it necessary for organizations like ours to exist. Of course, on occasion, parents have done their job, but their kids have still succumbed to the wiles of the every day culture. Either way, we are here to find these kids and bring them home safe to their families. #ChildSavedNotSold
