No Child Should be Alone

As part of an editorial in Giving Back Magazine, a very real need was addressed as outlined by our organization, Saved In America. Based in San Diego, Saved In America is a group of highly skilled volunteers who have committed themselves to assisting in the recovery of children who have been kidnapped into the sex industry.

The Problem of Abandoned Children

Our organization at Saved In America knows there is a real problem that exists in terms of getting children off the streets and into a safe environment. In San Diego, a great need exists for transitional safe homes for children who have been rescued and recovered from sex trafficking.

Keeping Kids Safe After Sex Trafficking Rescue

In most cases, when SIA assists in the recovery of a child, there are few safe locations for children to go. A safe home is needed to protect children from once again being lured by predators, traffickers and pimps within the city. Of the kids SIA assists, some 60% are foster youth, meaning they are homeless or do not have guardians or parents to care for them or protect them. As such, in essence, the community at large is responsible for the well-being of these kids once they have been recovered.

We Have a Plan

At Saved In America, we are imploring San Diego residents (and anyone else who wants to give) to step up and donate, so we can administer a safe home and location that will serve a transitional role— a home off the streets— giving children up to the age of 17 a safe place to go after recovery. The home will be secure and protected, ensuring kids stay safe from predators and other dangers. This will just be temporary transitional housing, giving children a place to go until they have been fully examined, and we are able to—along with strategic partners—work with parents and children to find an appropriate long-term rehabilitation center to begin the healing process.

Why it’s a Must

As one can imagine, the kids who are rescued out of sex trafficking are often already traumatized due to the abuse they have endured, including mental, physical and emotional abuse. These kids do not deserve to be returned to the streets after such atrocities. Help us at Saved In America to give them the kind of rehabilitation they need to heal the wounds they have endured. #ChildSavedNotSold
