San Diego Business Journal
As part of an article issued by the San Diego Business Journal, the mission of our organization, Saved In America was clearly laid out. Our non-profit organization has one mission: find missing children before they are lured into the dark world of sex trafficking. Shockingly enough, in San Diego, the sex trafficking trade is nearly a $1 billion dollar industry, which highlights the immense challenge our organization faces.
The Saved In America Team
Our group of volunteers with professional experiences like military specialists and former police officers includes founder Joseph Travers and many other team members who together work to assist both law enforcement professionals and parents of runaways, attempting to save precious time when seconds count. Runaway and missing children are at extremely high risk for ending up as victims of the human trafficking industry. In fact, around 60% of all runaways are approached by a trafficker within the first 48 hours.
The Efforts of Saved In America Are Working
While the scope of the problem of sex trafficking is immense, our organization, Saved In America has successfully assisted in the recovery of more than 250 missing children from Florida to California. Of those recovered, 60% were found before they became trafficked. For those who were not found before they were victimized, Saved In America has helped them obtain legal representation, rehabilitative therapy and safe housing to overcome and heal after their traumatic experience.
Saved In America Tactics Can Be Implemented Nationwide
Our team-based approach that utilizes social media history and data gathering has become a model for other parts of the country to follow. Our strategies have proven effective when it comes to focusing on missing and runaway children. We have also happily shared our knowledge of the strategies used by predators to gain the trust of their victims with the Human Smuggling & Trafficking Center in Washington, DC, the Licensed Investigator Associations in Texas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Naval Warfare Common in Coronado, California. We believe in sharing this information we have gained through years of experience in order to expand the rescue efforts of organizations nationwide, allowing even more kids to be recovered from sex trafficking and restored to their families. #ChildSavedNotSold
