#ChildSavedNotSold
On November 4th, 2021 highlighted by Giving Back Magazine was the 4th annual #ChildSavedNotSold fundraising event. The event featured keynote speaker, Mark A. Morgan, who was appointed by the President of the United States in 2019 to serve as the Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Acting Commissioner of the Customs and Border Protection, who previously served 20 years as a Special Agent with the FBI, was a Los Angeles Police Department Officer and is a 10-year veteran—active duty and reserve—of the United States Marine Corps.
Purpose
This fundraising dinner was created to raise needed funds for the ongoing operations of Saved In America. At no charge to families, our organization —made up of professional volunteers—work tirelessly to find and help law enforcement recover missing, runaway or exploited children. SIA also assists in procuring legal representation, rehabilitative therapy and safe housing for the victims after they are recovered. Since its founding in 2014, Saved In America has proudly assisted in the investigation and recovery of more than 250 children, nationwide. In order to keep finding and saving children— so they are saved and not sold in the sex trade or human trafficking industries— SIA will continue to host fundraising events and awareness.
Highlights of the Evening
In addition to the keynote speaker and the recognition of honored guests, the dinner included real-life testimonials from a mother, along with her 15-year-old daughter Madison. This courageous girl was a victim of traffickers and has been recovered by the Saved In America multiple times. Madison received the 4th Annual #ChildSavedNotSold Scholarship, which will assist in her rehabilitation and continued education. Madison’s mother shared her thoughts on the generous scholarship and the recognition her daughter has received from Saved In America “Thank you Saved in America! You saved two lives. I would not have made it without Madison. You are all in my prayers.”
An Updated Outlook on the Issue
The evening included an update on the border crisis and provided a realistic take on what human trafficking looks like in America today. It highlighted the importance of continued focus on the problem and how legislation can help many organizations like Saved In America to keep kids safe. #ChildSavedNotSold
