Restoration and Recovery

The process of restoration after such a traumatic experience is anything but easy. After all, children who are victims of the sex trafficking industry have been traumatized physically, mentally and emotionally. In addition, many of them have been drugged. Therefore, when we at Saved In America find them and rescue them from their captors, the process of restoration is just at the beginning. Unfortunately, simply finding these victims isn’t enough. They need guidance and protection throughout their recovery process in order to truly restore them to lead a healthy and successful life in the future.

How to Protect Kids Once They Have Been Rescued

As outlined above, the rescue process is just the first step. Once kids are found, they need a place to go that will ensure their safety. At Saved In America, we are committed to creating such places called emergency transitional safe homes that will be a safe location children and families can stay after rescue. In San Diego, around 60% of sex trafficking victims don’t have a safe home to go back to after they have been rescued. They are foster kids without parents, grandparents or guardians, who care for them or are in an abusive situation where home is not a safe place. In years past, these kids would often end up right back on the streets alone, having only themselves to fend off the predators and pimps seeking to pull them back into the slave industry. To rectify this, we want to ensure that no child is left behind or alone after this traumatic situation. We feel our San Diego community must be responsible to provide a safe location for these children to recuperate.

What a Transitional Safe Home Looks Like

At Saved In America, we want to provide a safe home for kids after their rescue from the industry. The home would be guarded, ensuring the safety of those who reside within. The ideal situation would include assessments from professionals during the first 14 days after their recovery that would evaluate the victims and determine the best next step in their recovery process. The transition would provide funds and resources for rehabilitation costs, and scholarships to help children receive the education or vocational training they need and deserve.

The End Goal

The mission of our organization at Saved In America is to break the chains of evil perpetrated by the sex trafficking industry. We are a nonprofit organization that is committed to recovering children in the United States and restoring them to a better future and way of life. #ChildSavedNotSold
